Since the textile industry is so immense, it has many negative effects on the environment.

• Pollution from soot from textile mills

• Waste from trashed textiles

• Water pollution from chemicals and dyes used for textile production

• Uses millions of tons of water around the globe

The lasting effects of the waste from the textile industry are one of the largest issues.

The landfills around the world are almost 6% textiles alone.

Many of these do not break down fast or easy, and when they do, they emit gases like CO2, creating more air pollutants.

They can also release other toxins into the ground affecting agriculture and water.

Something else that is not usually thought of in the textile industry process is the use of resources.

The textile industry is using leather from cattle, water, cotton and plants life, and electricity and gas.

Using these resources especially in third world countries is detrimental to the area, yet the money made keeps many of those economies from combusting.
